What is a Direct Mail Campaign?
According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) online dictionary, direct mail is:
“1. mass mail sent by a not-for-profit organization directly to prospects.
2. the soliciting by this method of donations, product sales, or subscription sales.”
The Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) in their glossary of fundraising terms shares:
“Direct mail Solicitation of gifts or volunteer services and distribution of information pieces by mass mailing.”
We believe it is much more than that. In addition to donations, direct mail campaigns can generate information about your donors. For example, some donors, usually older Canadians expect to receive information about your organization by regular mail. Opening the envelope and holding the letter may work best for them.
