15 simple, cost-effective tips to building your trade show table

  • Ask the contact person managing the trade show for information and book the date.
  • Ensure that you communicate in writing and by phone.
  • Find out about the fees. How will the payment be accepted?  Ask for a receipt.
  • What does the fee include? For example, what size is the table, will there be one or two chairs?
  • Don’t forget to bring your banner.
  • Bring an extension cord and a tablecloth.
  • Will there be food and beverages on-site? Or should you pack a lunch?
  • What are you NOT allowed to bring?
  • Ask if children will be attending the event. Bring some complimentary crayons.
  • Have your catch-all admin box handy with pens, paper, business card and holder, scissors, tape, hand sanitizer, etc.
  • Bring your laptop computer to showcase what you promote; show people your website.
  • Give something to each person that stops to chat, like chocolates and your organization’s swag.
  • Bring your calendar to schedule any appointments when someone wants to connect.
  • Put treats on your table to give to your guests who visit with you.
  • Have a door prize and a random draw of business cards in a bowl – follow up with everyone who entered your draw. They could be your next client(s).
