Happy International Women’s Day – March 8, 2022

“One of the best things that ever happened to me is that I am a woman.” Marilyn Monroe, 1926 – 1962

According to the Oxford dictionary, sisterhood is “the relationship between sisters.  A feeling of kinship with and closeness to a group of women or all women.  An association of or community of women linked by a common interest, religion, or trade.”

In our March 2021 issue of The Cat’s Meow in my message, Celebrating Our Sisters, I paid tribute to all of the women who made a difference in my life https://pouncesupportservices.com/celebrating-our-sisters/.  You know who you are!  Thank you for your friendship, love, and support over the years.

International women’s day is also a time to remember the women who came before us.  With courage and a fierce sense of justice, the girls stood strong in the face of adversity for what they believed.

Today, many women worldwide benefit from the sacrifices of those sisters.  May we not forget that it was just over 100 years ago, in 1918, when 21-year-old women were “granted” the right to vote.  We’ve come a long way, yet there is so much more we need to do.  May we pledge to empower our younger sisters so their struggles will be less than ours.

I encourage you to reach out to a woman today.  Call your mother and let her know how much you love her.  Get together with your gal-pals in person or virtually.  Go out for lunch or order in with the girls in the office.  Be kind to a sister, not only today but always!

“When I was in grade nine in 1981, I wanted to play the drums.
My high school music teacher told me I couldn’t
because I was a girl.” Kat Mooney
