Do you have to kiss a blarney stone to get the gold?
According to the age-old Irish legend that has been around for multiple generations, kissing the Blarney stone will not directly give you the gold, although it will give you the “gift of the gab” when it comes to being eloquent and persuasive with your words, which may lead you to the gold, or not.

Is Your Organization Looking for Gold?
Be aware of the fundraising consultants who claim they can move mountains and continually use “I” vs. we in their sentences. For example, “I raised millions of dollars for the XX foundation. The truth is fundraising is about many people working together. Be careful of those individuals who again use the I and claim “I am 100% convinced that I can get you that million-dollar grant,” when in fact, they are not the decision-makers.

- Project-based – where the client works with a team member or multiple team members on a specific project worked out by the principal navigator and the client. It is a fee for a project outlining specific timelines and deliverables.
- Retainer-based – is an agreed-upon amount with the client for large, long-term projects.
- Hourly-based – we don’t recommend this for projects as it can become more expensive for the client. We advise our clients to use this only when a couple of hours are needed. For example, the client wants to consult about a grant they are thinking of working on.
