CBC Quebec chose BGC Dawson as their 2021 Charity of the Year!

During November and December 2021, and in celebration of Giving Tuesday that took place on November 30, 2021, CBC Quebec reporter Debra Arbec spent some time with Chad Polito, the Executive Director of BGC Dawson to learn about their programs and services delivered to the Verdun community at large.

It is quite an accomplishment to be recognized and selected by CBC Quebec as their partner for 2021 Make the Season Kind Campaign. It was and continues to be a golden opportunity for the organization that has flown too often under the charitable radar. CBC Quebec annually recognizes the good works of a not-for-profit organization during the holiday season to help them increase awareness, visibility, and donations.

It is paramount to acknowledge what some consider to be a small organization that does so much good to help children, youth, adults, and seniors. BGC Dawson also has a huge impact on the people who work there. The people who work at BGC Dawson love what they do! Staff retention speaks volumes; Marc Paradis Seniors 50+ Coordinator has over 30 years of service, Joanne Eberlin, Administrative Secretary with 27, and Darley Polony, Youth Education Coordinator with 20+.

We had a telephone conversation following his CBC television recording and this is what Chad shared with excitement and enthusiasm,

“BGC Dawson has been a pillar in the English-Speaking community of Verdun for over 60 years.  It is a great honour to be chosen as the charity of the year and to be recognized for the life-changing programs and services we provide to children, youth, families, and seniors daily.”
